Sermorelin
Sermorelin is a prescription treatment that stimulates the pituitary gland to release growth hormone.
Growth hormone is a naturally occurring hormone produced by the pituitary gland. It plays an important role in normal growth and development during childhood and continues to support several physiological processes throughout adulthood.
Growth hormone signals the liver and other tissues to produce insulin-like growth factor 1 (IGF-1). Together, growth hormone and IGF-1 are involved in:
- Protein synthesis and tissue maintenance
- Bone remodeling
- The regulation of fat and carbohydrate metabolism
- Supporting the maintenance of normal body composition
Growth hormone secretion occurs naturally in pulses and is influenced by factors such as age, sleep, exercise, nutrition, and overall health. Growth hormone and IGF-1 levels can also be affected by medical conditions, medications, and other hormones.
PT-141
PT-141 is a treatment that activates melanocortin receptors. These receptors participate in several signaling pathways within the nervous system.
PT-141 is believed to influence brain pathways involved in sexual response. However, the precise mechanism by which it improves symptoms of hypoactive sexual desire disorder is not fully understood.
